Full Length Debut Xenocanon Album Out This May(05.05.08)!
It's been over a year in the making, and finally the debut Xenocanon album will be out this May on the new label
ElectroState Records. I've been hard at work on my wacky gamer cyberpunk webcomic
NeoRamen as well as some other projects, but a lot of effort in the last year has been put into making sure this will be the best possible debut effort. I've posted selections from the forthcoming cd on the
Xenocanon Myspace page.
We'll be having a professional music video shot for a still as yet undetermined track off the cd, but expect it to be quite an avant garde looking cyberpunk affair. Besides the album, there'll be a bunch of new merchandise, as well as shows planned soon.

First off, finally...the
The BargainHunter music video is up! A spoof of the waffle EBM pioneers, and a nod to retail madness in all its cyberpunk film noir glory. Plus, I'm carrying a giant crayon cannon.
Next up, a live version of Metroid Girl
can be found here. Taken from the last show, it's not the best quality, but I definately enjoy the fun energetic feel of it as well as the live synth latering.
Now speaking of live shows, the next Xenocanon show will be Saturday June 18th in Sacramento Ca.
Click here for more details. My live crew and I definately want to go all out for this one for one big energetic cyberpunk show. We're also hoping to have besides the regular shirts, baby doll/small girl sized
//xenogrrrl shirts.
Finally,
Pictures from the last show are online now! Check em out, they are nifty.

Three big Xenocanon news updates for you! First off, the brand new Xenocanon track
Fuchikoma is now online for you to download. Perfect for accompanying your fps or mecha games,
Fuchikoma is a dark anthemic cyberpunk song about Kaiju Japanese monsters, giant robots, and owning on the virtual battlefield server. So be sure to download it, link to it, and share with all your friends! I also updated the
Xenocanon Myspace page.
Second, the debut Xenocanon show is this Saturday April 23rd in Fremont CA! Opening for
Glis (featuring
Manufactura) and
Cesium_137, we've been working feverishly for the last couple months to make this an interetsing first show. Information for the show can be found on
this here flyer. Our set starts at 10 sharp, so show up early. Xenocanon is primarily my thing, so I am very grateful to have a whole crew of people helping out with the show, as well as a live stage crew(two synth players, and electronic drums as well) For anyone wondering what a dark cyberpunk future collding with a world of video games, Japanese robot anime, and wackyness would be like...this show is for you. And for the rest of the world not able to attend, we will be posting live clips from the show next month, as well a sa music video for BargainHunter.
Finally, Xenocanon shirts are finally out! These will debuting first at the Xenocanon concert this Saturday, but will soon be available to order via paypal online.(Available in m, l, and xl) You'll be looking nifty and spiffy sporting these, with a statement that says

...the Xenocanon //revolution has begun!

Because You Knew It Had To Happen
I am pleased to announce the first show has been announced, as the caustic 8-bit misanthropy of Xenocanon finally comes to the stage! The show will be Saturday April 23rd in Fremont California, opening up for Metropolis Record's Cesium_137 and Alfa Matrix' Glis. The rest of the details
are in the live section. I plan on going all out on making the wacky dark future cyberpunk of Xenocanon kick ass and take +3am exp points.(We will even have backing visuals to boot!) I'm trying to line up more California shows for later this summer, and hopefully one of these days some out of state shows.
Also for those waiting for new material, I'm hard at work on some new songs that will have more of an aggressive EBM feel to it(one of which is about anime mech tanks and robots!) I should have some new material up to download in a couple weeks, and there is a remix or two in the works. I just relaunched my
webcomic, so check that out as well.

New versions of Metroid Girl and 1989 up!
Sorry for the wait...but it is finally here! Stompy, catchy, and mechapoppish. So here it is, the new and improved
Metroid Girl and 1989! I think you'll appreciate the new vocals and lyrics on Metroid Girl much better...as well as the new 1989 sound. I'm also working on yet another track which I hope to have online in the next couple weeks. All totalled there should be four tracks by the begining of March for your amusal and befuddlement.
[ 02:09:2005 ]
One...You Walk To Target! (BargainHunter now up!)
.:.:initialize mobile uplink interface:.::.
More wackier than 8-bit Belgian waffles, I present to you the newest Xenocanon track,
BargainHunter! This of course would be a random 3am offbeat spoof of the classic Front 242 classic "HeadHunter". (in Transylvanian accent) So now there are two...two songs to post in your livejournal, muahahaha *cue lighting* Agaiun, I'll be putting up the final 'Metroid Girl' track version when it's done.
I am also very happy to report that the track '1989' (which you can download for free in the mp3 section) has been getting a variety of play on several streaming EBM stations. So a big thanks to everyone who has helped get Xenocanon on net and underground college radio, as well as the dj's who've been slipping '1989' into their club sets.
We come together like a giant robot...we rise again to the edge of the screen...you can't stop us cuz I am error...all your 8-bits are belong to us. may be the opening lines in '1989', but I think in a way it is also the mantra of a movement.Or, as the phrase people have been really liking fromt hat song
One Nation Under Optimus Prime. So yes, from a small piloted spacecraft careening without caution into an alien mothership...dreaming of someday becoming that flying fortress mainfraime. Again, thanks to everyone who has been so supportive in our opening salvo(can't seem to send ya guys those vinyl stickers fast enough!)...as the Xenocanon revolution has just begun!

New track '1989' Up!
The brand new Xenocanon track
1989 is now up under the mp3's and available to download! Under the mp3 page there's the mp3 itself, as well as a link to the Xenocanon Myspace profile. I've taken down the rough demo of Metroid Girl, and will repost it when it's been reworked. Anyways I've had the idea and basic structure for this song for several years, so it's very exciting to finally have it up. This is my tribute to my favorite year of time, 1989. A stompy EBM anthem to not just retro gaming, but a raising of the proverbial powerglove fist in the air. Back when it was all about thuggin' it up on a game of
Bad Dudes and
Ninja Turtles at the local Chuck E Cheese. Back when it was all about power-ups, minibosses, power gloves, and R.O.B. the Robot. But oh to go back to a time when Mushroom princesses weren't nuthin' but pixels and sprites; as nothing like rolling up on some flickering bad guys with your orange zap gun and grape OtterPop in hand. So check out the track, post it in your livejournal, and
live life like a true retro gamer. (I've also posted the lyrics for 1989 under the lyric section)
Now then, I'm going to be posting another new track hopefully sometime next week(err, or at least soon) which I'm very excited about. My first musical influence ultimately would be Weird Al, so when my zany offbeat randomness meets my love for EBM music...well, you'll see the results:) I have a few remixes lined up as well for some of my songs, however those will exclusively be on a self released EP I'm putting out in May(to also coincide with live shows) The EP will contain high quality mastered versions of all the songs released online, as well as a couple of exclusive surprises, and various remixes. My dream is to someday release a limited edition box set with a vinyl action figure, but I think I'm getting ahead of myself there:)
So check out the Xenocanon forums, So anyways, check out
my webcomic PockyBot, and stay tuned...the Xenocanon fighter ship has initialized infiltration of the stage one boss!

Welcome to Xenocanon!
With plenty of quarters to spare, the stompy 8-bit EBM mechapop anthem known as Xenocanon has been officially launched! Like development on
Duke Nukem Forever, it's been quite a process in the making (not to mention many a late night caffeine binge); but alas it's finally here. A lot of people may know me as the guy behind the offbeat gamer webcomic
PockyBot, but it's long been a dream of mine to usher in my own unique musical vision as a fully conceptualized package (bringing together my passion for EBM music, retro gaming, anime, cyberpunk, the 80's, various geek stuff, and comedy) The goal of this little project falls somewhere between a yearning to make people laugh and dance like a mad robot, yet perhaps another bi-product will be sheer bewilderment. Bonus +50 exp points for checking out this site to begin with.
As for the songs, for now they will be available to you all for free (except for any remixes, which would be available only on cd)... because free is good! The first song on there now is Metroid Girl, a song I wrote lyrically a few years back, and which took several months to complete this year. I'm hoping to add a new song every week or so for the month of January. The next song I add will be a nice little stompy club anthem (for all you Suicide Commando/Feindflug/Hocico fans out there) which I think you'll all get a kick out of. After that, I have quite an interesting treat that should leave people either greatly amused or greatly perplexed. So muchos goodness in store. I'd love to hear what ya guys think, so go ahead and send me comments and feedback via email or on myspace.
I'm hoping to bring Xenocanon as a live concept to a few shows and conventions this year, as well as spread the mechapop worldwide. But before all that, a brief lowdown on what's in store. I just got a shipment of about 500 black vinyl //x stickers (you'll see me refer to Xenocanon as //x from time to time), and will be getting a ton of 1" pins (of the octopixel logo) soon. I'm hoping to have mini posters, shirts (incl. a '//Xenogirl' baby doll shirt), a self produced EP, and *possibly* 4" plushies of the octopixel logo by the spring time. So what does all this incoherent babble mean? It means there shall be some nifty swag to order in a couple months, as well as if and when any shows are played.
For those that missed it, here was the little teaser graphic I made before the site launched. (Thinking of using this as a basis for a poster) Anyways, I can't think of a more radder way to usher in this glorious new era (2005=1989 2.0!) than with this... so hurry up and clicky on the mp3 section already ^___^ I wanted to give heavy thanks to everyone for working overtime to help me get this all together. So big thanks go out to Brett, Z-R0E, Kinn and John B for putting so much effort into helping with this dream. Also big thanks to all my friends and PockyBot readers for being such great supporters! Remember,
! A Winner Is You!!
//cory you
